Lhasa Lhasa

Lhasa is the capital of Tibet.  It is also called "City of sun". This is because Lhasa is situated 2607 meter above sea level and above most clouds. Maybe Lhasa is most famous for the Potala palace.  It is a palace hanging on a mountain wall. It is 13 floor tall and has 1000 rooms 10.00 chapels and the graves of 8 Dalai Lamas.  It was build by Sonsten Gampo as the official Dalai Lama temple. From the 18:th century the palace was only used in the wintertime. After Chinas annexation  of Tibet, the religion has been very oppressed but the are still many temples left. The most important of them is Jokhang temple. It has a golden statue of Buddha. The Tibetans believe that the statue is made by Buddha him self.

Lhasa is worth to visit due to the temples and the Potala palace. If you like nature or warm people it is also worth a visit here.
